Souleymane Coulibaly may be a target. He's left his club in Egypt due to security concerns and he's still young (21) he had a productive season in The SPL and has an impressive scoring rate in the Egyptian league. Probably £800k seals the deal for this former Spurs prodigy. Athletic, balanced, two footed and a natural ball player this striker offers a variation on our current options and he's someone with enormous development potential who will offer both goals and assists. Plays with a joie de Vivre and has some impressive gymnastic tumbling skills to offer some extra razzmatazz to our goal celebrations.

Dom Dwyer is in the Uk good hit rate in MLS and early career at Norwich. May be going to Wolves but must have at least been discussed as a possible signing for us.

The next question is who's going and who is staying. At a guess we are still lacking in a few areas RB the buy can't defend. CDM Tetty gets injuries and bans such is the nature of CDM so more cover is needed. Then dumb call of the season we sell Hooper because Neil is married to the high press but then he realises we need variety and counter attacking nous so we pick up Bamford and Naismith. Does Naismith stay? What about the buy of the season Klose? Mbokani is a loan so we must sign a striker plus Bamford is also a loan. We may need cover at LB and maybe a third Keeper. If we can build defence that is tighter than a nuns chuff we might have a chance if or when we get back into the prem privided we can pick up the striking options needed to survive at this level when we finally return. Neil will have learned a lot. We should stick with him. Rome was not built in a day. He has more than enough to win promotion and with the right support next time out will be able to sustain prem existence.

Keeping hold of Klose and Redmond will be pretty tough I reckon. I agree we definitely need to sort our defence and strikers out. Naismith has been disappointing and I wouldn't be surprised if someone came in for him. Martin & Bassong should be dropped indefinitely from the first team, they're awful. Need to start building a solid defence with Ryan Bennett involved. Will see how good Maddison is next season but need to buy a couple 10+ goals a season strikers!

2.) 08 Jun 2016 21:01:46
Kodjia from Bristol City and McCormack from Fulham would be excellent striking additions plus Lewis Dunc from Brighton at CB. Time to say goodbye to Martin,Bassong,Whittaker, Dorrans, Neil and regrettably Redmond. I hope we can keep Klose maybe we should make him the skipper.

I can't wait to see Maddison next year. We need to stop buying players who are at the end of their careers as the mainstay of our side though and concentrate on players who can make the grade in the Prem in one year from now.

3.) 08 Jun 2016 15:52:28
Keeping hold of Redmond would probably be the toughest. also hearing that Mbokani has a 5million pound buy option at the end of his loan

4.) 12 Jun 2016 14:51:29
Redmond is still inconsistent, as for Mbokani, he should ay us £5 mill to stay !

Norwich rumoured to be interested in Santon now at inter formerly Newcastle, he plays left back although mainly known as RB. West Ham are also allegedly interested. Would be a good addition.

{Ed002's Note - Really, really unlikely and now in talks with Genoa.}

Jedniak is a rumoured target. Not getting games at Palace. Would be great if we can get him.

Manager happy he cannot be sacked. Players happy they get best the best pay in the champ with no pressure to win. Board happy they will sell out when the parachute payments expire. Moxey happy to run another club that pretends to want promotion but isn't bothered either way. Say promotion three times and the dumb saps will suck it up won't they - after all it worked with education education education didn't it. Just the fans who aren't happy. Can the fans transfer clubs? If only they could.

New manager rumours are doing the round especially after some peculiar decisions on team selection at Birmingham. Most relate to Neil's continuing habit of playing people out of position Naismith and Brady in particular. With CJ out surely Lafferty starts and Morris is on the bench but no. Then we come to Whittaker who is great going forwards but limited as a defensive player and we area away from home so surely Russell Martin is the more defensively minded option. opposing teams are wise to our passing game and won't give us space to get our heads up Canos and Murphy were good calls in this regard but the main failing was Naismith up front. Pure favouritism and a dumb call. We had possession and lots of shots but no goals. The manager got some big calls wrong and we paid for it. Steve Bruce is available.

So McCormack is in a three way tussle between Villa, Newcastle and us. My guess is that the toon don't go for him due to the players age and fee. It is a 50/ 50 at best that we land him so hopefully the board have some other options lined up ie Bamford Kodjia or a revised bid for Assombalonga are possibilities. Plus what about a new CB. If we don't fill these two positions with quality players then the Board will have failed our manager again. If this is the case then he should resign and simply accept that his employers ambitions are far less lofty than his own. The board needs to Just pay the effin money even if these players are over priced. The cost of not having them and failing to win promotion will be far greater!

Haller reported to have visited club then his agent drops the bomb that his player wants European Football. Does this guy know what he is doing? Our manager is good but I'm not sure he can manage someone whose agent operates in a parallel dimension. Alex Neil was suitably inscrutable when asked about these strange antics. What else could he say? It makes the player look like an idiot. Perhaps he can get better representation.

So Jez Moxey says the manager stays. If he does something has to change. Defensive qualities and performance are so often a product of coaching. We have a midfielder a winger and a bloke who ran a youth academy in Scotland who is ANs mate coaching a team of international players.

Time to reorganise the coaching set up because this one isn't good enough for the champ let alone the premiership. Keith Millen or someone of similar qualities who has expertise in defensive coaching would be a good addition if we are to persist with AN.

Hodgeson is an obvious name and one with undoubted credentials however while I'd like to see him at the club in some capacity he shouldn't be the manager for two reasons firstly his age but more importantly his achievements have been at a much higher level. There is no point in just hiring a name. There shouldn't be a sense that the manager is doing us a favour. We have a good quality squad but terrible defensive frailty.David Wagner would be my pick.

More rumoured striker targets Nakhi Wells, Assombalonga ( both in contract and clubs not rumoured to be selling plus replacements would be needed). Mbokani also a rumour although he is presumably more interested in Prem footy with 7 goals from 15 appearances someone in the prem should be interested. But it would be great if we could get him back. Wages might be a stumbling block unless he agrees a deal tied to promotion ie lower wages and large promotion bonus. Knows what he's getting at Norwich and it would be quick to get him integrated into the set up. Reading between the lines Alex Neil is interested and the ball is now in Mbokani 's court.

Plausible if McCormack is 12m and this guy is 1.5m then he's possibly a bargain. He is also a big unit suited to Champ but injury prone. But here's the thing Anichebe hasn't ever cut it in the prem. McCormack however might plus he's a prodigious goal scorer in champ footy and time is running out for him. If he isn't hungry now he never will be. Anichebe is ok as a third or fourth striker but he's no better than CJ. If we sign him it will not be a disaster but it will be a clear sign that we lack ambition.

Neil's man management skills are first rate his tactic nous less so.
He is still flummoxed by how to attack in this league and it is rare that you will ever see opposition defenders running back towards their goal because they are out of position.
Pass completion and shots make for a good squawka rating but they don't win games. The ball has to go into the goal for that.
Fast transitions running off the ball and playing the chuffing through ball will. Sadly this is not something Neil does. He has pace all over the field and players with passing skills so sadly the manager must take responsibility for our lack of goals.
He was surprised by the amount of counter attacking in this league. I am surprised that he has not done anything with this observation. Is he still arguing with reality? No goals in 9 starts is poor. Really poor. How many times has Redmond had the chance to get behind the full backs only to stop and play the square ball. Why does the manager have him do that ? Why aren't players running into the box when we break? That is all down to the manager. He is responsible for our lack of goals as much as the players are.

I agree in terms of results and tactics. The stats say that Norwich are the Prems lowest user of the through ball. This is significant. In other words we do not seek to use passing moves to get opposition defences out of position. The though ball is often a counter attacking side's main weapon.
The high press is an obsession for us however as a one trick pony with no counter attacking game we are easy to defend against. If you cut out our crossing we have nothing to offer but long shots which most prem sides can defend all day. The game stats flatter us too as we have shots a plenty mostly from range and decent possession and pass completion figures. We think we should win but we don't.
Mourihno would often talk about transitions being the key to winning prem games. It is very easy for opposition defenders to keep a good shape against us because we are too slow in the transition and totally lacking a counter attacking threat. We actually have got the players to play counter attacking football so instead of winning possession and playing a bunch of square balls as we gradually move up the field and the opposition get back Into shape as we do now we need to play the killer ball to runners into space. Leicester are the Prems top player of the through ball incidentally.
